‘Boots was not on the contract,’ says Thurman on Ennis
Former unified world welterweight champion Keth Thurman (30-1, 20 knockouts) assured he is not avoiding Jaron “Boots” Ennis (31-0) for his next fight.
Thurman insisted that Ennis, the current International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion, was “not on the contract.” The 35-year-old Florida native never saw a deal where Ennis was on it, he said.

“Boots was not on the contract for the first quarter of this year,” Thurman told Thaboxingvoice on Monday. “The contracts I’ve been seeing, Boots is not on the table.”
“I don’t care what people say. I take what’s put up in front of me,” he added.
Thurman is scheduled to fight Australian Tim Tszyu on March 30 in Las Vegas. Tsyzu’s World Boxing Organization super welterweight title will be at the state for the fight.
Thurman is up for the challenge of moving up in weight against Tszyu. The upcoming fight has a catch weight of 154 pounds, seven pounds more than Thurman’s natural 147 lbs fighting weight.
“We have a good game plan, and I’m looking forward to this competition,” the American fighter said. When it comes to moving up one weight class, normally, that is fair play.”
Thurman last fought on February 5, 2022, when he beat former WBA (Regular) super lightweight champion Mario Barrios. His lone loss came against Filipino ring legend Manny Pacquiao on July 20, 2019, also in Las Vegas.
