Fury still unimpressed with Usyk ahead of May 18 fight

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-0, 24 KOs)  is not convinced that Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) is “not good enough” to beat him.

FURY DOUBTS IF USYK CAN BEAT HIM

The 35-year-old English boxer cited Usyk’s lack of exposure in the heavyweight division as one of the factors going against his opponent on May 18 in Saudi Arabia.

“He’s (Usyk) only had (five) fights at heavyweight, and I haven’t been impressed,” Fury told Charlie Parson on his website. “Is he good enough to beat “The Gypsy King (Fury’s moniker)?” 

“I don’t think so, but good luck to him. If he is, I’ll shake his hand. I’ll take him out inside seven rounds,” he added.

NGANNOU FIGHT CLOUDS FURY DOMINANCE 

Despite having an unblemished record, Fury’s unimpressive last fight had some fight fans not convinced that he can dominate Usyk in their upcoming fight.

Furry struggled against Cameroonian fighter Francis Ngannou before escaping with a split decision in their bout on October 28, 2023,

The fact that Fury was knocked down by Ngannou in the third round of their fight means Usyk is capable of winning with an effective fight plan lined up for him.
