Pacquiao-Buakaw match postponed to later date, said organizers

The highly-awaited “Match of Legends” between Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek has been postponed.

Postponed, not canceled

Thai Fresh Air Festival announced the development on March 9 through its official website.

Fresh Air Festival stated that due to “force majeure”, the Pacquiao-Buakaw match needed to be postponed.

However, the organizers assured that the match will happen this year, although there is no exact date yet.

The Pacquiao-Buakaw bout was supposed to take place on April 20 at Impact Arena at Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi province.

“While discussions for the event date are ongoing, some inaccurate reports have unfortunately surfaced suggesting its cancellation,” the organizers said.

“We appreciate your interest in this potential match and assure you that official updates will be communicated directly through our authorized channels once confirmed.”

Tigonz Co Ltd also released a statement on behalf of Fresh Air Festival.

“We understand the enthusiasm surrounding this potential event and apologize for any confusion caused by the premature reports. We remain committed to delivering a captivating event worthy of these legendary athletes and their dedicated fans.”

Two great fighters

Pacquiao, 45, is considered one of the greatest professional boxers of all time.

He is the only boxer to win world titles from eight different weight divisions.

Meanwhile, Buakaw is regarded as one of the best Muay Thai fighters of all time.

The Thai artist is a two-time K-1 World MAX Championship and Omnoi Stadium Champion.

Nonetheless, the epic clash between Pacquiao and Buakaw will have to take a back seat.
