The other sports Manny Pacquiao plays 

Manny Pacquiao is not just known to be a legendary, surefire Hall of Fame Boxer. 

PacMan was a keen sportsperson himself, as he goes beyond the ring to play other games in mind, whether it was casual or competitive in nature. 

We look at the different sports this legend has already played aside from boxing. 

1. Basketball 

No doubt about it, Manny shoots hoops like everybody else in this country that is mad for the tall man’s game. His height of 5 feet, 7 inches is at the bare minimum level for being a point guard. 

Yet, it’s in basketball that we see a competitive kind of Pacquiao, which is why he was drafted and then named head coach of the Kia franchise when they entered the Philippine Basketball Association in 2014. A year later, his shot over Rain Or Shine’s Chris Tiu became viral for all the good reasons. 

He then used his PBA experience to launch the regional-based Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League in 2018. 

2. Darts 

Apart from being accurate with his punching power, Pacman is also a marksman on the oche, playing darts leisurely when he has time.  

 
Not only that, but he also sponsors international tournaments and has his own line of darts. Talk about engaging in a different level. 

3. Billiards 

Manny’s sporting curiosity also brought him into the pool table, where he shares the space with a plethora of Filipino cue legends such as Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante. 

Apart from exhibitions, he also had a hand in organizing premier tournaments, in which he brought the world ten-ball championships in GenSan back in 2015. 

4. Chess 

There was not much info about Pacquiao playing competitive chess, but he even has a time for the boards. 

Last year, he played a charity match just after his retirement against a simulator of the great Magnus Carlsen. He then lasted for 41 moves until his virtual opponent got him on a checkmate. 

5. Golf 

The least documented of his non-boxing sporting activities, but the Pacaman has tried already his shot at the tee box. 

However, there was some tension in that, wherein there are news back then that he had been denied a membership in two of the country’s prestigious golf clubs. 

We could only wonder what his handicap would be.
