MUNGUIA READY FOR ‘CHANGING OF THE GUARD’

The retired six-division world champion envisions Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) to dethrone Alvarez (60-2, 39 KOs) as the two fighters face off in their “Cinco de Mayo” showdown.

“He (Munguia) is ready right now. He is positioned right now. This is his moment,” De La Hoya told Fight Hub TV.

“This could be the changing of the guard on Cinco de Mayo,” he added.

CANELO’S AGE COULD WORK AGAINST HIM, SAYS OSCAR

De La Hoya cited the 33-year-old Alvarez’s aging legs and footwork to eventually catch up on him against the 27-year-old Munguia.

“It’s all about footwork because you have a guy (Alvarez), who’s 33, and you have a younger guy (Munguia),” the Golden Boy Promotions chief said.

“So obviously, his legs are fresher. He can take a punch better, although Canelo does have a good chin,” he added.
