WHAT DEVIN HANEY DID TO FLOYD

Bill Haney claimed Devin’s sparring session against Mayweather back before he fought Conor McGregor in 2017 “wasn’t close.” Devin’s father knew Mayweather had to “pass the torch” to his son back then.

“It was like Floyd was looking in the mirror. Devin is the one who stamped that,” Bill Haney recalled. “It was before the Conor McGregor fight that he (Mayweather) finally decided that he could no longer be in boxing with no real fighters.”

“He knew the torch had to be passed, and he passed it to Devin because it was either forced or it is whatever it is right now,” Bill Haney added.

WHY FLOYD ISN’T ‘SALTY’ ABOUT DEVIN HANEY

Bill Haney was not surprised why Mayweather showed fellow American boxer Ryan Garcia a video of Devin getting knocked out by Gervonta Davis. Devin’s father added his son’s sparring video with Mayweather should’ve been the one shown by the retired fighter.

“It’s just the way it is. It’s the new era, the Devin Haney era, and that’s the way it is,” Bill Haney said. He added Mayweather can’t be “salty” about his son due to the lots of money he is getting.

Mayweather posted a technical knockout win over McGregor in his last professional fight on August 26, 2017. Devin Haney last fought on December 9, 2023, when he posted a unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) in San Francisco, California, for the WBC super lightweight title.
