INOUE REBUFFS PORTER STATEMENTS ON ‘COME TO THE US’

Inoue (26-0, 23 KOs) disagreed with Porter, who said that the Japanese superstar should “come to the United States” to become a global boxing star.

The undisputed two-division world champion went to social media to respond to Porter’s statement.

“In response to the comment saying (Inoue) should come to America and play a match, the home of the lightweight division is now here in Japan,” Inoue said in Japanese.

“If there is something better than what is available in the Japanese market in America, I would be happy to go,” he added.

Inoue is no stranger in the US, having fought there three times and once in the United Kingdom.

PORTER QUESTIONS INOUE GOALS IN BOXING CAREER

Porter questioned Inoue’s goals in a career where he held all four major super bantamweight title belts.

Inoue, Porter said, should hold more fights in the US to raise his profile as a global boxing icon.

“We really don’t know what Inoue’s goals are, are his goals to be the star of boxing?” Porter asked on ProBox TV.

“If his goal is to be the star of boxing, you got to come to the United States,” he added.

INOUE PROUD OF NEXT MAJOR FIGHT IN TOKYO DOME

Inoue is looking forward to his next fight against Luis Nery (35-1, 27 KOs) at the Tokyo Dome on May 6.

“If you want to see the game, come to Japan,” the boxer also known as “The Monster,” said.

Tokyo Dome is known as a world-class venue with its 35,000 seating capacity.

The Dome was the venue when James “Buster” Douglas upset Mike Tyson in a heavyweight title bout in 1990.
