Jake Paul calls out Canelo Alvarez

Former YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul calls out undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs).

Paul next man up?

Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) recently came off a first-round knockout win over Ryan Bourland (17-3, 6 KOs) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The 26-year-old Paul brought Bourland to his knees after unleashing a flurry of punches. Referee Luis Pabon withdrew the match after 2:37 of the first round.

Speaking to DAZN, Paul said he wants a big money fight against Canelo.

“Canelo, stop ducking,” Paul said. “I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico, so it’s Puerto Rico vs Mexico.”

Paul continues to issue a challenge against high-profile names in boxing, including retired former unified super middleweight champion and Hall of Famer Carl Froch.

Froch has been retired for 10 years.

“I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. Like I said, I’m the face of this sport. Truly, who’s doing more for boxing than me? I keep on proving myself time and time again.”

Meanwhile, Canelo will make his boxing return on May 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Reports suggest that Canelo will likely face fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia.

Nonetheless, Paul wants to take on the best fighters in the world to solidify his status as the new face of boxing.

“I’m on the path to [becoming] world champion, and I want to keep on fighting tougher fights. If a money fight pops up, I’ll take it because those are fun. But for now, I’m staying on the path of fighting real fighters and increasing the level of opposition.”
