MP Promotion says Ancajas could win over Inoue

MP Promotion Sean Gibbons believes that Jerwin Ancajas (34-3-23 KOs-2) could score a victory over Takume Inoue (18-1-4 KOs).

The Filipino fighter will face Inoue for the WBA bantamweight belt at the Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo on February 24.

Philippine Star reported that the judges for the scheduled 12-round match are from Italy, South Korea, and the USA.

Regardless, Gibbon hopes that the officials will call a fair fight, considering that Inoue has a homecourt advantage.

“I hope they keep it that way I hope the guy from South Korea and the guy from Italy are straight, I know the judge and referee from the US are good.”

However, Gibbons said that Ancajas’ aggressive style should boost his chances of winning over Inoue’s defense-first approach.

“Jerwin’s chances to win are tremendous,” said Gibbons.

“This is the perfect style for Jerwin, who’s a boxer, that’s why he’s called Pretty Boy, and Inoue’s a non-puncher.”

Ancajas, 32, will fly to Tokyo on Sunday, as he is currently in the final stages of his buildup at the Survival Training Camp in Cavite.

Should Ancajas win the bout against the Japanese fighter, he will become the Philippines’ only reigning world boxing champion.

“Jerwin’s really put in the work, returned to his roots at the Survival Camp in Magallanes, Cavite with Vincent Astrolabio and Alex Santisima giving him incredible rounds. Jerwin’s focused,” Gibbon’s said. “His family’s supporting him with coach Joven (Jimenez) and everyone around him. I’m looking to hear … and the new WBA bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas.”
