Pacquiao ‘ready to go’ for Conor Benn in Saudi Arabia
Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is “ready to go” for a fight with Conor Benn around May or June in Saudi Arabia.
‘Ready to go’
Pacquiao, 45, said he expects to leave Saudi Arabia with a signed contract following a face-to-face with Benn, 27.
“I’m in shape, ready to go, and the months we gave them [to schedule the fight] are May and June,” he told Boxing Scene.
Pacquiao’s last professional fight happened in August 2021, where he absorbed a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas.
The eight-division world champion was supposed to face Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek on April 20.
However, the Thai Fresh Air Festival announced the postponement of the said exhibition match.
Nonetheless, Pacquiao continues to train for his potential return to the ring.
Benn, who holds an undefeated 23-0 record, also said he is willing to face Pacquiao.
“The public demands it, and I’ll fight any man, any legend. Let’s get pen to paper and get it done now,” Benn said.
Pacquiao is also geared up for a fight with Benn in Saudi Arabia.
“He’s popular here [in Saudi Arabia and the U.K.], and he’s willing to fight me now,” Pacquiao said. “I’ve seen it. He has a lot of fans here. I expect us to finalize it this weekend, and I think we’ll fight here in Saudi Arabia.”
Pacquiao, who has a record of 62-8-2 with 39 knockouts, is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time.
He is the only boxer to win world titles from eight different weight divisions.
