TSZYU TO EARN CAREER-HIGH PURSE AGAINST FUNDORA
Tszyu (24-0, 27 KOs) will make a career-high purse in his checkered career against Fundora (20-1, 13 KOs).
The Australian fighter, who will stake his World Boxing Organization super welterweight title, was supposed to fight Keith Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs), who pulled out due to a biceps injury.
Thurman’s World Boxing Council super welterweight belt will also be at stake.
Tszyu is fearless of Fundora, whose only loss came against Brian Mendoza in April last year in Australia.
“I’m not the one to fear. He (Fundora) should be fearing me. That’s the difference. Nothing stops me, no matter what,” Tszyu said.
CRAWFORD, CANELO POSSIBLY NEXT FOR TSZYU
Tszyu must first beat Fundora to line him to possible big payday fights against Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) or Canelo Alvarez (60-2, 39 KOs).
Meanwhile, Tszyu insists he saved the expected big crowd that will pack for the T-Mobile Arena over the weekend despite Thurman’s absence.
“I live in an era of Twitter battles rather than fighters. I saved the show – T-Mobile Arena, all of this stuff,” the 29-year-old Sydney native said.
“So I hope I can inspire more boxes out there,” he added.
