Top Rank hypes Inoue-Nery fight as ‘biggest boxing event’ in Japan
Top Rank is putting up a different twist to promote undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (26-0, 23 KOs) to the US market.

‘THE MONSTER’ STAKES TITLES IN TOKYO DOME
Inoue hopes to lure the bigger US sports market by fighting at the historic Tokyo Dome against
Mexican challenger Luis Nery (35-1, 27 KOs) on May 6.
Top Rank describes the upcoming fight of “The Monster” as “the biggest boxing event” in Japan. However, the fight will be held at 4 am Eastern time, making it difficult for East Coast fight fans to wake up and watch it.
“Naoya Inoue is the world’s best fighter, a young man who amazes me whenever he enters the ring,” Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said. “Luis Nery is a tough challenger but I fully expect Inoue to get the job done.”
JASON MOLONEY FEATURED IN INOUE UNDERCARD
Aside from promoting Inoue, Arum is banking on the historic Tokyo Dome and the presence of rising Australian fighter Jason “Mayhem” Moloney in the undercard to hype US fight fans.
Moloney, who is slated to face Japanese Yoshiki Takrei in one of the three main undercards, was described by Arum as a “road warrior.”
“We have a spectacular undercard highlighted by Jason Molonery, a road warrior coming to Japan determined to show he’s the world’s best bantamweight,” the Top Rank official said.
Inoue’s brother, Takuma Inoue, is also fighting in the event against Sho Ishida. Seigo Yuri Akui takes on Taku Kuwahara in the other undercard.
