TSZYU TO STAKE WBO JR MIDDLEWEIGHT BELT VS FUNDORA

Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Middleweight title against Fundora (20-1-1, 13 KOs), who was tapped as Thurman’s replacement.

Aside from Tszyu’s WBO belt, the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) 154-lb title is also at stake in the Tszu-Fundora fight.

Fundora was supposed to fight in the Tszu-Thurman undercard against Serhii Bohachuk before Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) suffered a biceps injury.

FUNDORA TO CHALLENGE FOR WORLD TITLES FOR FIRST TIME

Also known as “The Towering Inferno,” Fundora now gets a chance to take the WBO and WBC belts with a victory over Tszyu.

It will be the first time Fundora fights for world titles in his eighth year as a pro fighter.

However, Fundora has to bounce back from his seventh-round KO loss to Brian Mendoza in Carson, California, last year to become a world champion.

Should he post an upset win over Tszyu, Fundora could be lined up for another potential huge payday in a world title fight against Terence Crawford.
