Manny Pacquiao’s training habits
Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is known to have a work ethic unlike any other, even if he has a political or showbiz career on the side.
The former eight-division world champion takes his body with serious intent to keep himself fit even if he’s not fighting, in which he has been an inspiration for aspiring prizefighters who wanted to follow on his footsteps. The Eight-Division World Champion, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐲 ‘𝐏𝐚𝐜-𝐌𝐚𝐧’ 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐚𝐨, warms up to prepare himself mentally and physically for the tasks ahead.
Pacman has allotted six days a week for his training before a big fight, in which he starts his daily grind with a 90-minute morning routine that consists of a ten-mile morning jog, a combination of plyometric drills such as jumps and push-ups.
Then, he hits the gym after his massive breakfast, in which he has a variety of workouts to go to. From Monday to Thursday, he must complete 15 rounds of sparring plus 10 rounds apiece for the speed and the heavy bag. And on Fridays, he swaps his sparring partner for up to 20 rounds of mitts, and 3 sets each for the double end and speed bags to perfect his hand speed and reflexes.
And how about his stonewall guts? He has a combination of ab and core drills that included more than a thousand sit-ups to end his daily routine. These were a response to his early knockout defeat to Medgoen Singsurat in 1999, vowing never to be defeated with a body shot again.
When he was not in fight mode, Pacquiao even keeps himself fit by going to the wooden courts, playing basketball for up to four hours a day.
As a result, he created an unstoppable machine of combining the heaviest and fastest hands to go along with his impeccable stamina and a hard-rock body to match, thanks to his dedication and discipline.
