ALVAREZ SEEKS 1-2 FIGHT DEAL WITH PBC

The Mexican world super middleweight champion renewed talks with PBC after earlier negotiations with DAZN fizzled out. Alvarez is looking for a one to two-fight deal with PBC.

The Guadalajara native wants PBC to include his upcoming fight against Munguia in Las Vegas on May 4. Alvarez hopes to finalize terms with the PBC and include Amazon Prime PPV in the new agreement.

If Alvarez secures a two-fight deal with the PBC, the Mexican is looking to fight again in September.

“As Canelo’s promoter, I’d say Munguia. He’s a young fighter,” former two-division champion Jessie Vargas told Little Giant Boxing on its YouTube channel. “He’s stronger, but he’s younger and still inexperienced.”

BENAVIDEZ, MORRELL LOOM AS POSSIBLE FUTURE FOES

Alvarez hopes to hurdle Munguia in the Cinco de Mayo match. Fans are also hoping for him to fight David Benavidez or David Morrell Jr. in September.

“I like Benavidez, and I like Munguia. If I were in the position as a fan, I would say Benavidez or Munguia,” Vargas said.

However, Vargas warns Alvarez to look past Munguia. The 27-year-old Mexican continues to improve under trainer Freddie Roach, Vargas said.
